Our History
Alternation Brasil was founded on the 13th november 2000 with the objective
of importing and launching the north american folding bikes brand DAHON
on the brazilian market. From 2002 on the company outsorced the import operations
and focused on distribution and sales of DAHON in the whole country. Since
then Alternation has actively participated on the creation and development
of the folding bikes market and, in partnership with DAHON, bringing a new
and innovative transportation alternative. DAHON bikes can be easily folded, are extremely light and have an excelent performance. They have two great advantages if compared with tradicional bycicles. First, they can easily integrate with other forms of transportation like trains, buses or cars. It means trips by traditional bicycles are limited to very short distances - which in today's sprawling cities, means that only a very small percentage of total trips are possible by bicycle. Traditional bicycles also don't store well - how long do you think a nice bicycle would last chained outside in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo while you run errands? And we all know how much space a traditional bicycle takes up if you store it in your apartment or bedroom. But a folding bike can go anywhere you want, and your bike can go with you, whether you ride the entire way or go part of the way by bus, train, car, boat or plane.
Nowadays milions of cyclists around the world use folding bikes as a daily transport solution. They turned into a lifestyle that is healthier, more economical, and more environmentally-friendly. In Brazil it´s not different and since year 2000, when we introduced the concept, we are proud to say that we contributed to the life of hundreds of people that make their daily commute using a folding bikes.
